One Big Weekend at Red Rooms
Yes indeed it’s going to be another big weekend at Red Rooms. Last weekend Sebastien Leger played to a packed crowd and rocked the house and this weekend in the words of the great man ‘we continue’….
It all starts off as usual on Thursday Night with Derry’s favourite mid week night out and the coolest night in town - POP MENTAL. Most of you already know this night is all about partying and what other way to start your weekend than with a good party!
On the 1’s & 2’s will be residents Paco & DaCosta in the main room providing you with the best in Club Music, Party and a mix of Indie, RnB and anything else you can think of that will keep you from sitting down at any stage of the night.
In the bar Deeper Underground main man Stephen Porter keeps the party going and lifts it up a gear with his amazing mix of electronic music that is sure to keep you coming back for more until you have danced the soles of your already battered converse.
Admission is free before 11pm and £3 after with Drinks Promotions from £1. www.redroomsderry.co.uk/popmental
This Friday 27th Red Rooms continue their New Monthly Trance Night – ABSOLUTE. The first Absolute night was held in January with Irish DJ BRYAN KEARNEY headlining and was such a success there has been a lot of anticipation about February’s installment, not least because the headliner this weekend is one of the hottest properties in dance music right now – SIMON PATTERSON.
Signed exclusively to the hugely respected Spinnin’ Records, Simon’s music has earned him massive support from industry leaders such as Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin van Burren, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules and Above & Beyond. With tracks such as F:1, Panic Attack / Strip Search, Bulldozer / We’ll See, attaining almost cult statues, coupled with widespread acclaim from the dance media.
His creative offerings as a producer have captured audiences, bringing them willing with him along his musical adventure. From techy moods to edgey riffs, spin tingling melodies to driving basslines, Simon’s studio offspring’s of the past 12 months have raised his profile to see him become a much in-demand DJ, producer and remixer.
However, it’s when he’s behind the decks that the sound of Simon comes alive. With a style described as cutting edge, dark, driving, pulsating, Simon’s technical ability is a finely tuned art that fuses trance with elements of techno and electronica. If you’re stood on a dance floor when Patterson’s behind the CDJ’s you know who’s in control, and the only thing you’re likely to do is to dance and dance hard. For more information on Simon visit him at www.myspace.com/simonpatterson
Simon is joined by 7 local DJs spread over 2 rooms of Trance / Techno and House music for what is undoubtedly going to be a banging night as Trance music revives itself in 2009. Admission is £3 / £6, Doors open at 9pm, this is an over 18s event and ID is essential. For more info visit www.redroomsderry.co.uk/absolute
On Saturday Night the 28th February Red Rooms welcomes back one of Derry City’s favourite DJs – PAOLO MOJO.
Paolo Mojo is established as leading light on the underground house music scene. Already a highly respected DJ, his relentless production schedule throughout 2008 has sky rocketed him into the production premier league.
2008 saw him a virtual ever present on BBC’s Radio One Essential Selection / Mix with 7 singles on his Oosh label getting constant radio airplay. An Essential New Tune for ‘Nightlaw’ in February was followed by one of the most well received Essential Mixes of the year in August, and Paolo was name checked as one of Pete Tong’s hottest producers of the year and resulted in being part of Pete Tongs Wonderland Ibiza line up alongside the biggest stars of 2008 Eric Prydz, Deadmau5, The Japanese Popstars and many more.
Its easy to see why, his stylish, turbo charged tech house sound has been one of the success stories of 2008… singles such as Brooksong, The Dancer, Interstellar, Home, Sirena, Nightlaw and Ron Hardy Said (in collaboration with Jim Rivers) have led people to start talking about the Paolo Mojo ‘sound’.
Paolo will be joined by Deeper Underground Red Rooms resident Stephen Porter with support from DJs Paco and DaCosta. Admission is £3 / £6 there will also be some early specials before 11pm. Doors open at 9pm Dress Code, no effort – no entry – Over 18s and Strict ID. For more on Paolo visit him at www.myspace.com/paolomojo and for more info on everything that’s happening at Red Rooms visit www.redroomsderry.co.uk.

Sebastien Leger returns to Red Rooms
Last weekend on Valentines Night Red Rooms was at full Capacity with Bodyrox DJ Nick Bridges at the helm and this weekend is going to be no different, in fact start queuing as even more clubbers will be heading to Red Rooms this Saturday night. That’s because this Saturday 21st February SEBASTIEN LEGER returns to Red Rooms.
Sebastien last played Red Rooms in September of last year and was so popular that Red Rooms immediately booked in his return date, and this weekend is going to be another full on party at Red Rooms. Do believe the hype, because French DJ Sebastien is one of most outstanding artists in the recent electronic music business, an exceptionally gifted producer who is operating far beyond all the French filter house clichés.
Sebastien attended the academy of music from the age of five to 15, integrating technique and musical theory on piano and drums. But soon Sebastien Leger began visiting record stores, being impressed by the likes of Ian Pooley, Daft Punk and Sneak, diving into a complete new world. Consequently Sebastien stepped behind the turntables.
Over the following years Sebastien was releasing many records on many international labels, building his worldwide reputation and contributing an essential element to its musical evolution.1999 saw Sebastien Leger’s first album “Atomic Pop” come out which included a notable appearance by Junior Sanchez. Parallel to building his international DJ career Sebastien Leger was fast becoming of the world’s most demanded remixers, working for artists like Armand Van Helden, Kevin Saunderson, Ron Carroll, Jakatta, Seal, Paul Johnson and labels like Defected or Intec just to name a few!
Having gained a lot of success and appreciation in Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, the US and the Netherlands Sebastien Léger is only at the beginning of conquering the electronic music world, giving his audience the great chance to dive into the electro bath.
Sebastien Frequently tours and produce's music with Chris Lake, his single Aqualight was a collaboration between the two. He also operates a radio show on Ministry of Sound internet radio where he plays his own remixes and hits entitled "Sessions". Famous remixes include Justin Timberlake, Duran Duran, Groove Armada and Ali Love. Sebastien also owns and manages his own record label, Mistakes Music and this year on 10th May 2008 Léger made his debut on BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix.
Sebastien plays Red Rooms this Saturday 21st February. Admission is only £6 before 11 there will also be some early specials before 11pm. Doors open at 9pm Dress Code, no effort – no entry – Over 18s and Strict ID. For more on Sebastien Leger visit him at www.myspace.com/sebastienleger.
The weekend starts on Thursday at Red Rooms with the Coolest Night in town Thursdays Pop Mental at Red Rooms. As most of you already know this night is all about partying and what other way to start your weekend than with a good party! Think about E4’s Skins meets the packed out tent at a rock festival where all the crazy kidz are watching the coolest new band and that’s sort of what Pop Mental is like, except probably crazier and better!
On the 1’s & 2’s will be residents Paco & DaCosta in the main room providing you with the best in Club Music, Party and a mix of Indie, RnB and anything else you can think of that will keep you from sitting down at any stage of the night. BODYROX to Rock Red Rooms
Love is in the air this month, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s pretty hard to not Love Red Rooms at the moment. Between bringing world class DJs and Acts every Saturday night and having the busiest mid-week night in Derry, all topped off with a very reasonable door price and Drink Promotions each night to help your clubbing wallet during the dark days of a credit crunch. Why wouldn’t you love Red Rooms???
Last weekend The Japanese Popstars returned to Red Rooms with more big beat dance floor mayhem and as usual sent the packed Red Rooms crowd into a frenzy from start to finish. Then they started again and then again!!! For photos and videos of the night visit the Red Rooms websites.
This weekend Red Rooms are very pleased to welcome chart topping dance act BODYROX.
Bodyrox DJ Nick Bridges will be the master of the decks on Valentines night and is certain to get your hearts racing and feet jumping this Saturday as he unleashes his armour of hits on the Red Rooms faithful. Bodyrox track Yeah Yeah according to Pete Tong is one of the biggest hits in electronic dance music. When it was released in 2006 it took the Miami Winter Music Conference by storm picking up early support from Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Fergie, Dave Pearce, Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley, Annie Mac, Edith Bowman, Annie Nightingale, Sarah Cox and Trophy Twins on BBC Radio One alone and went on to fill every record box under the sun.
Supplemented by a unique vocal from Luciana, a killer remix package and a highly acclaimed controversial video, Yeah Yea’ became the huge international club anthem which kick started the global Nu Rave phenomenon. On its official release in October 2006, Yeah Yeah debuted at 2 in the UK Top 40 and remained in the Top 10 for several weeks and topped many dance and download charts.
In 2007, riding a wave of massive success, Bodyrox were nominated for an Ivor Novello - one of the music industries most prestigious awards.
Nick Bridges’ background is no-less successful. As a technically-gifted DJ nominated in the International House Music Awards, Nick is widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted young DJ’s in the World - with previous residencies at Fabric London, Amnesia Ibiza for Cream/Glasshouse and at Ministry of Sound London – a residency that saw Nick mix five compilations throughout a long-standing association with the brand that continues today. Fast forward to 2009 and Nick is still at the top of his game with a number of his solo productions/remixes widely supported by some of the players including Pete Tong, Carl Cox, Dubfire, Mark Knight etc.
Catch the superb BODYROX this Saturday 14th February at Red Rooms. Admission is only £3 before 11 and £6 after so it is worth getting there early to take advantage and there will also be some early drink promotions before 11pm. Doors open at 9pm Dress Code, no effort – no entry – Over 18s and Strict ID. For more on BODYROX visit them at www.myspace.com/bodyrox. Also visit the Red Rooms website www.redroomsderry.co.uk

The Japanese Popstars this Saturday 7th Feb
February is here and so is a world class line up of Saturday Nights at Red Rooms. This month Red Rooms welcomes DJ Paolo Mojo, hit makers Bodyrox and the hugely popular Sebastien Leger to wow the Red Rooms audience in the next few weeks.
But first up this Saturday Night is a band that needs no introduction on these shores, they are not Japanese and they are not Popstars (well not in the X-factor sense) its THE JAPANESE POPSTARS.
This is the 3rd in a series of Bi Monthly gigs the Popstars have been playing at Red Rooms and every night so far has been a full on crazed party with The Japanese Popstars nearly blowing the walls down with their monstrous big room tunes from their debut album We Just Are. The guys have had a meteoric rise to fame in this past year. Their massive, old-school anthems attracted the attention last year of everyone in the UK from BBC Radio 1 tastemaker Pete Tong to DJ Magazine, which named them the Best Breakthrough Producers of 2008.
The Popstars latest track Face Melter has just been released and does exactly what the title suggests, providing a skin-liquefying cocktail of clanging clatter, rave beats, and rolling energy. The sound swells, staggeringly stops, and toys with standards of formation with a deformed upper level and serenity-testing synth sure to blow a few speakers, so when they drop this on Saturday night if you are at the front of the gig take a step back.
The Japanese Popstars will be joined by Red Rooms resident Tonisi warming up for them in the main room and DJs Paco & DaCosta providing a mix of Commercial Dance and Floor Fillers in the back room. Any night the Jap-Stars have played Red Rooms they club has been jammed so get over early to guarantee entry. Admission is only £3 before 11 and £6 after so it is worth getting there early to take advantage and there will also be some early drink promotions before 11pm. Doors open at 9pm Dress Code, no effort – no entry – Over 18s and Strict ID.
For more on The Japanese Popstars visit them at www.myspace.com/thejapanesepopstars. Also watch the video below of The Jap-Stars previous gigs at the club just to get you even more in the mood for some big beat dance floor mayhem with 3 non-Japanese guys on the turntables.
